Faculty Spotlight : Professor Natalia Levina

This month’s faculty highlight is Professor Natalia Levina. Professor Levina has been nominated for the best professor award by EMBA students and regularly speaks at industry conferences. Her work focuses on how people span organizational, professional, cultural, and other boundaries while producing and using technological innovations. Currently, she studies the evaluation and adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine, open innovation, theories of smart contracts, and firm-community relationships in crowdsourcing. We were lucky to get a chance to catch up with her and here are some excerpts from our conversation.

Hello, Professor, Thank you again for meeting with me. Let’s start off by introducing yourself where you’re from, and what you teach at Stern?

I’m originally from India, although I’ve been in the USA for thirty-five years.   This is my twenty-fifth year at Stern.  

I teach many courses at Stern in various areas. I used to teach the entire financial accounting core to MBAs. Now I teach a wide range of interdisciplinary classes ranging from financial modeling, advanced accounting, business drivers, and data analytics in python, to renewable energy.

Hello Erica! How are you doing today? Can you tell us a little about yourself and your company, Trousso? 

I’m doing great this fall morning! Thank you for asking. 

I’m currently wrapping up my Stern MBA program which I expect to finish this coming May. 

My company, Trousso is a resale platform for upscale bridal fashion. Our goal is to help the next generation of brides dress up for their wedding celebrations in a way that’s financially accessible and environmentally sustainable. 

Wow! That’s cool.  Tell us a little bit about your life before Stern, and your career journey so far. 

I started my career as a management consultant at Deloitte, where I spent five years working in several different roles.…

Faculty Spotlight: Kristen Sosulski 

Dr. Kristen Sosulski is a Clinical Associate Professor of Information, Operations & Management Sciences in the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, where she teaches MBA students and executives data visualization, computer programming and business analytics. She is also the Director for the Learning Science Lab for NYU Stern, where she develops immersive face-to-face and online learning experiences to advance business school education.
