Last week, the Stern Healthcare Association (SHA) hosted an alumni career insights panel to guide those MBA students interested in careers in the healthcare industry amidst the rapidly changing healthcare landscape. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to moderate the panel, and we were lucky enough to hear from healthcare industry leaders such as Tim Nolan from EmblemHealth, Pooja Chatterjee from Abbott, and Josh Kurtzig from United Family Healthcare.

Playing hooky has taken on a whole new meaning lately. Not just about how schools and businesses across the globe have gone remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but also about the newly formed MGM/United Artists Television and its first deal with Play Hooky Productions, founded by the Oscar-winning actor, Sam Rockwell, and NYU Stern’s own Mark Berger.

You may know Sam Rockwell from his roles that definitely stole my heart as the dastardly villain, Eric Knox in Charlie’s Angels (2000), the Southern cop, Dixon, in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017,) for which he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, or, most recently, as the endearing Nazi, Captain Klenzendorf in this year’s Oscar-winner, Jojo Rabbit (2019).…

I find myself lamenting many facts about our new normal. Those exciting events that once felt like momentous occasions—graduations, weddings, and big vacations—feel insignificant in today’s context, when healthcare workers are struggling to find the necessary supplies to care for the sick and over 6 million Americans are filing for unemployment in one week.

Of course, I know it’s still natural to grieve for the loss of these milestones. I was personally so excited for my family to visit NYC for my MBA graduation. Their flights from Florida were already booked and their hotel reservations made. It would be my 10-month-old niece’s first trip on an airplane, my boyfriend’s family’s first time meeting my family, and my mom had won two tickets to Hamilton for us and would take me as a graduation present.…
