Parsa Sobhani, MBA Class of 2015

School is back in session, and recruiting is just around the corner. Amidst increased junior initiatives (read: better balance) and increased compensation (read: higher salaries) on Wall Street, it is a great time to pursue a career in investment banking and corporate finance.

The Graduate Finance Association (GFA) prides itself on providing its members with exposure to the New York finance industry. To this end, we have a full calendar of events designed to give MBA1s and MBA2s alike the opportunity to meet Stern alumni at a multitude of banks and firms.

On September 23rd, the GFA will be kicking off the fall with the Alumni Cocktail Reception, held at the Manhattan Penthouse. The event will give Stern students the opportunity to interact with alumni before the corporate presentations and Lunch & Learn events begin the next week. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served. Interested students should RSVP through Campus Groups.

In addition, On October 10th, the GFA is hosting “The Changing Nature of Careers in Finance” at the NYU Kimmel Center. The club will assemble leading practitioners from investment banking and corporate finance to discuss major market trends. The event will close off with a networking reception, where students will have the opportunity to meet practitioners in their desired career field. This year, the GFA is excited to welcome Financial Services and Commodities Executive Blythe Masters. Seating is limited.

We look forward to welcoming members of the Stern community to the wide array of GFA’s programming on offering this fall.
