Tom Hamnett, MBA Class of 2014
Plentiful bar options? Check. Delicious passed hors d’oeuvres? Check. Ample coat check? Check. The problems of yesteryear were nowhere to be found as NYU Stern held its annual Charity Ball at Finale on Saturday, November 16. Sternies from LSG and the full-time MBA came out 650+ strong to celebrate the Fall semester and raise money for worthy causes on a beautiful autumnal evening. In the end, over 50 items were donated, raising over $13,000 for the Lower East Side Girls Club and Red Cross Philippines Relief effort.
Gazing upon the dance floor, you could see smiles for miles as Sternies danced under the spectacular LED light show at Finale. Partygoers looked resplendent in tuxedos and formalwear, enjoying a wonderful atmosphere and each others’ company. The party featured state of the art portable dance floors upstairs, and the more lounge-like Jazz Room downstairs, which hosted the silent auction.
Special thanks go out to the SGov and LSG Events superstars Sarah Needham, Courtney Rizzo, Katelyn McClellan, and Jared Pondelik for pulling together an amazing evening for us all to enjoy, and to all the volunteers who donated their time over the night to ensure a smooth operation. Also, thanks to our fearless OSE liaisons Diana Hyde and Janet Lyden for helping make sure that we were able to secure the venue and for enjoying the night with us (disclaimer: author won the karaoke night with aforementioned OSE all-stars). The team executed on a flawless evening that was enjoyed by all.
And a huge thank you to all who donated items and made this event a huge success for the Stern community. It was a magical evening, and I know for one I can’t wait for Spring Gala to dress up and party with you all once again!
